Customer Success Story
Japan’s mixi Accelerates Services by Linking Cloud with On-Premises Systems
To develop and deploy new services faster and more efficiently, mixi needed an open, flexible network with seamless connectivity between cloud-based services and on-premises systems.
Service provider mixi offers a platform for social networking, communications, entertainment, and gaming. Since the explosive growth of its Monster Strike application in the last two years, with more than 40 million players worldwide, mixi has been successfully developing and commercializing new services.
Business Challenge
With development environments both in the cloud and on-premises, mixi had to manage IP address conflicts and access control to ensure traffic integrity, which slowed new service provisioning. The provider needed seamless connectivity between cloud-based services and on-premises systems to accelerate service development and deployment.
Technology Solution
By deploying high-performance QFX Series switches in a virtual chassis configuration, mixi could use MPLS and virtual routing and forwarding (VRF) technology to segment its network for individual projects. The provider was already using MX Series routers for connecting to the Internet. Junos OS integrates network routing, switching, security, and network operating systems to reduce network complexity.
Business Results
Juniper solutions have enabled mixi to create an MPLS / VRF environment that helps to resolve IT address conflicts, reduces the number of access control lists (ACLs), and accelerates provisioning by linking cloud-based services with on-premises systems. Junos OS makes network management easier with less potential for human errors.
