Juniper Routing Active Testing Deployment Services Datasheet
Download DatasheetServices overview
Setting up a resilient, manageable, and expandable network is a significant challenge. Predicting how it will behave when millions of users start using it is almost impossible.
Juniper Routing Active Testing is an intuitive and versatile software solution that automates active testing and monitoring for the most demanding network environments. We deploy the software for you, tailoring the solution to meet your specific needs and helping you continuously maintain the network in a high-quality state.
Services description
Juniper Networks has four deployment services for Juniper® Routing Active Testing: Basic, Plus, Premium, and Custom.
Each of these deployment services is completed in five phases:
- Discovery workshop
- Low-level design (LLD)
- Configuration creation
- Acceptance testing protocol execution
- Knowledge transfer workshop
In phase 1, Juniper conducts a discovery workshop to identify the desired use cases and assess the current state of the network. This assessment also helps determine the available tools and platforms at the target production environment. At the end of phase 1, your Juniper team presents a high-level design (HLD) document that describes the use case(s), solution components, firewall settings, system requirements, number of streams and scalability, and other design elements.
During phase 2, the services team delivers an LLD document describing the production-ready configuration details, such as thresholds, inventory management, API calls, and third-party integrations. The LLD also provides a template for monitoring and testing, available plug-ins, and suggestions for optimal configuration of the Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) environment for the test agents.
During configuration creation (phase 3), our team creates the required configuration for the use case(s) agreed on in the HLD and executes the fourth phase—acceptance testing protocol execution—to ensure that the desired solution is in place and works as expected.
We finalize the project during a knowledge transfer workshop with your cross-functional teams. In this workshop, participants learn about the solution and reported metrics.
By the end of the workshop, your team has the required knowledge to solve network degradation issues that may arise before they turn into user-impacting problems. The different components of the service are listed in Table 1.
Components | Description | Features and Benefits |
Discovery workshop | Technical workshop to discuss customer requirements for the project. Juniper documents customer requirements in a high-level design (HLD) document for review and approval | Clearly identified and agreed business and technical requirements |
Low-level design (LLD) | LLD document expands what was presented in the HLD by providing information on actual templates and the inventory | Detailed design document shared for reference and available internal knowledge transfer |
Configuration creation | Based on the discovery workshop outcome, the Juniper team assesses the hosting environment with the customer infrastructure team and recommends installation best practices for the test agent. Then a Juniper consultant creates the base configuration for the selected use case and updates the Control Center inventory as required | Artificial packet loss and jitter in test and monitor results prevented with an optimized test agent configuration. Third-party systems can interact with the Control Center |
Acceptance testing protocol execution | Juniper reviews test items with the customer and verifies the successful output | Confirmation that the capabilities are operating as desired |
Knowledge transfer | Detailed knowledge transfer from Juniper on selected products and their usage in the network | Customer team prepared to address network degradation issues before they impact users |
Juniper Routing Active Testing Basic Deployment Service is valuable for organizations enabling network performance monitoring or testing for the first time. This service is limited to one use case and up to five test agents.
Plus Deployment Service increases the number of use cases covered to two and test agents to 20. Deploying more than one test agent allows both reflector-based testing and monitoring use cases and performance verification among the test agents by executing VoIP, TCP, UDP, and other tasks.
Premium Deployment Service is suitable for an environment where LDAP and SNMP integrations are required.
Custom Deployment Service offers a fully customized solution that provides more flexibility in choosing the deployment deliverables, such as number of test agents, number of use cases, third-party system integrations, custom software components, and documentation. This custom offer does not limit the number of test agents or use cases and allows customers to request other software components like plug-ins.
